The Final Standing Ovation

A person’s life is best judged at his/her funeral by counting on the qualitative and quantitative parameters of the crowd gathered to pay their last tribute/homage to the mortal remains of that person in memory of his/her thoughts, words or deeds.

This is the highest form of appreciation or ovation for anyone’s achievements.

Recently, early this month, one such ovation where a huge crowd of over 10 hundred thousands of people gathered was at the funeral of the former chief minister of the state of Tamil Nadu, India, the bold-and-a-beautiful queen.

The highest number of people gathered for a chief minister’s funeral was for Mr.C.N.Annadurai with over 15 million people in 1969, followed by that of Dr.M.G.Ramachandran (popularly known as MGR), who was also a chief minister of the state.

Google says,

“While Diana’s may be the most widely televised, the funeral of former chief minister of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, C.N. Annadurai, on Feb 3, 1969, still holds the Guinness World Records for the “most attended funeral” with an estimated 15 million.Dec 16, 2013.”
